that Unfamiliar Place explores our relationship to place – the culmination of all the places we have physically been and everything they represent, carried over into our memory, our psyche, our bodies. They live with us forever, not in photographic images but in a collage of impressions and experiences. They pose as our security. Nowhere we dwell is our true home; everywhere we dwell is counterfeit. Yet, we ground ourselves where we land, living as expats searching for meaning in the communities we find residence in. Displaced, yet rooted. These are the spaces that consume us, transform us, define us.
